Company History
Since its founding in 1912, Accident Fund Insurance Company of America has been the number one provider of workers compensation insurance for Michigan business and we're quickly making our presence felt throughout the nation. We've earned an A.M. Best rating of A (Excellent). We're more than 90 years old and we're not about to rest.
We are visionaries. Accident Fund Insurance Company of America was born in the early century tradition of a nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic and an infinitely optimistic view of the future. Throughout the years, we've grown steadily through wars, depression, law changes, and endless business cycles. With such a rich history in workers compensation insurance, we're now taking that expertise and expanding into new states and entering a new era of connectivity.
With headquarters in Lansing, Michigan, Accident Fund is a wholly owned and independent operating subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. We are licensed in 49 states plus the District of Columbia, and we are the 10th largest writer of workers compensation insurance in the country. The company also provides third party administration services and disability management. Accident Fund is the parent of Wisconsin-based United Heartland, which also writes workers compensation insurance.
