Core Competency
The Company's core business is the world's largest producer of custom-designed engineered fabrics and process belts, called paper machine clothing (PMC). These consumable fabrics are used to manufacture all grades of paper from lightweight paper to heavyweight containerboard. PMC fabrics are essential to the papermaking process and are manufactured from monofilaments, multifilaments, and synthetic fiber materials.


Strategic Diversification
In its family of emerging businesses, Albany applies the technologies of paper machine clothing to the development of unique materials and structures for a variety of other industries. These include composite structures for the aerospace industry, belting for corrugator and tannery applications, high-performance industrial doors, specialty fabrics for the nonwovens, pulp, building products, textile, and fiber cement industries and PrimaLoft patented "synthetic down" insulation for the technical outerwear and home furnishings markets.
