Cotton & Company LLP is an audit and accounting firm located in Old Town Alexandria, VA, just outside Washington, DC. We specialize in providing solutions and services in the areas of financial and IT audit and consulting, management consulting, fraud risk, financial reporting, litigation support, and forensic accounting. Founded in 1981, we have a long-standing rapport with our numerous repeat clients, constantly build on our reputation of providing quality services, earning new client’s trust, and consistently exceed expectations. We provide our clients with solutions today, to meet requirements of the future.
Company History
Cotton & Company LLP is a certified public accounting partnership licensed and in good standing with the Commonwealth of Virginia and many other states and is qualified to practice in all other jurisdictions. Our practice specialty is the business of government. Since our founding, Cotton & Company has focused its practice on providing services predominantly for governmental agencies and programs. Many clients are repeat clients, which is evidence of our record of outstanding and timely performance and our sustained ability to exceed client expectations.
Cotton & Company has held its office locations in Old Town Alexandria, since its inception. Our proximity to many local federal government agency buildings makes us easily accessible to our clients.
Cotton & Company was a veteran-owned small business until 2007, and is now classified as a large business under our GSA FABS and MOBIS contracts. Under our GSA Schedule 70 contract, we were classified as a small business until July 2013. Dave Cotton founded the firm in 1981, and was appointed to Chairman in 2007. Also that year, Matt Johnson and Mike Gillespie became managing partners.
Cotton & Company was founded in 1981, with one partner and a handful of auditors, and has continued to expand its client base and range of services. Once providing limited financial audit services to our federal clients, we have grown to a firm of 11 partners and more than 150 professionals providing a full range of audit, accounting, IT, and management consulting services.
