Company Overview

Mesa Consolidated Water District is a local government agency providing water to over 110,000 residents including homes, business and industries in Costa Mesa, parts of Newport Beach, and some unincorporated areas of Orange County including the John Wayne Airport. An industry leader, Mesa is known for its advanced water treatment practices and use of multiple technologies. The District is governed by an elected five-member Board of Directors, who appoints the General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for directing approximately 62 employees in the operation of the water system.

Benefits

Holidays – Eighty-nine (89) hours annually, consisting of ten fixed, 8-hour holidays and nine (9) flating holiday hours.

Vacation – Employees accrue between eighty-eight (88) and one-hundred and sixty (160) hours annually, depending on tenure. Accrued time is available to use after six-months.

Sick Leave – Employees accrue ninety-six (96) hours per year, with no maximum accrual cap.

Retirement – Mesa Water employees participate in CalPERS retirement. Benefits are based on 2% @ 55, highest single-year formula, with Mesa Water paying 100% of employee’s 7% contribution. Mesa Water participates in Social Secruity.Mesa’s CalPERS formula is “full formula,” so the benefit is not coordinated with Social Security.

Cafeteria Plan Benefits – Employees receive a $1,300 “Flex Credit” allocation per month to be used towards health benefits including medical, dental and vision. Flex credits not used towards benefits may be taken as addtional taxable income or deffered through one of the District's optionla defered compensation plans

Deferred Compensation – Two voluntary Deferred Compensation Plans (Section 457) are available to employees through Nationwide and ICMA- RC.

Flexible Spending Account – Employees may participate in either or both of Mesa’s Section 125 plan flexible spending accounts: Dependent Care Reimbursement (eligible upon hire) and Medical Expense Reimbursement (after one-year).

Life Insurance – Full-time employees are covered by $100,000 in group term life insurance paid by District (benefit decreases at age 65).

Management employees also receive a $250,000 District-paid Travel Insurance Policy.

Long Term Disability (LTD) – Full-time employees receive District-paid LTD insurance coverage equal to 2/3 of salary ($9,000 maximum monthly benefit) after a 90-day waiting period.

Short-Term Disability – The District participates in State Disability Insurance (SDI).

Retiree Health Savings Plan (RHSP) - In additiona to the employee's salary, Mesa Water continbutes an additional 2.5% to a RHSp for members of the Management team. (Required 2.5% employee match) (management only)

Automobile Allowance - Managment employees receive an Automobile Allowance of $250 per month (management only)
