Company History
TriZetto has been innovating healthcare IT for 15 years. Founded in 1997, TriZetto initially pioneered Internet-based ASP technology and invented software as a service (SaaS) for enterprise solutions in the healthcare industry while also providing exceptional healthcare IT infrastructure and consulting expertise. TriZetto went public in 1999, after acquiring HealthWeb and Management and Technology Solutions (MTS), and the company shifted its focus to the healthcare payer market, which offered the most significant opportunity for rapid expansion.
TriZetto solidified its position in the payer market with a series of strategic acquisitions that included leading vendors of solutions for core administration, benefits administration and business process outsourcing services. By 2001, TriZetto owned or operated three of the most significant technology solutions for payers: Facets™, QNXT™ and QicLink™. In 2002, TriZetto was named by IDC as the largest ASP provider, by revenue, in the world. It was ranked the second-fastest-growing technology company in Deloitte & Touche’s Fast50 program, and chairman Jeff Margolis received Ernst & Young’s 2002 Orange County Technology Entrepreneur of the Year award. TriZetto annual revenue had reached $265 million.
In January 2012, TriZetto announced a major new initiative in which it will collaborate with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. The joint effort will be undertaken by Topaz Shared Services, LLC. BCBSKC and BCBSNC will be its initial members. Topaz will provide services such as claims processing, enrollment and billing for the individual and small-group markets. Topaz has three main objectives: accelerating the speed with which new products reach the market; increasing innovation; and improving cost efficiencies. BCBSNC and BCBSKC believe that the solutions offered by Topaz will be attractive to other Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in the future.
As 2012 got under way, TriZetto announced two acquisitions: Medical Data Express (MDE), which provides solutions for the Medicare and Medicaid markets; and Kocsis Consulting Group, whose business-readiness, training, compliance and change-management tools and solutions enhance and complement TriZetto Consulting Services.
